Can you text internationally for free with iMessage?

I think there's too much explaining and such so it makes getting an answer or understanding a question more confusing. I should've just asked, is iMessage still FREE internationally if I just use my 3G connection and NOT wifi??
It's really a simple yes or no that I was looking for... I get what you four are saying about the SMS but I just really needed a yes or no to the above question. Sorry if there was any confusion.

Yes, iMessage still just uses your data, whether over 3G or Wi-Fi.
 
I think it's just safer to use whatsapp. I sometimes use imessage but generally whatsapp feels a lot more modern and polished. Imessage seems outdated.
