Does anyone know if you can upgrade your Intel chip to a faster one. I currently have Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz but some of the games seem slow.

You can in the iMac but you'll void your warranty for a 167 MHz gain.

You'd be able to put in the Core 2 Extreme X7900 but one more it wouldn't be worth it.

Even my 1.8Ghz Pentium 4 will play games faster than the very fastest Mac Pro.

It is NOT the processor, it is the lousy GPU that your Mac came with.

It's the Radeon X1600 that's the problem. The 2.16Ghz Core2Duo is very fast.

In general this is true however there are a few CPU intensive games where the processor makes a large difference as well, such as the Sims 2. Or if you are playing intense chess programs they can max out the CPU and take 5-10mins to move on a 2Ghz Athlon 64.

"I had pit two different chess programs against each other it ended in a stalemate, I would have lost in three moves since I suck at chess."
