can you use a uk iPhone as a modem?

Hi all I have a I'm iPhone running 1.1.2 and I have a MacBook and I was wondering if it I'd possible to use it as a modem to give internet acess to my macbook and if so how?? Thanks

I saw it posted before how to. Required a hack. Cannot do it out of box.
