I don't think so. From what I read, an "OEM" disk will work.

    No.

Even if you have a Windows 7 DVD I would still advise against it - upgrading (even telling it that you do not want anything from the old install) leaves the old install behind and I have not been able to remove it.

OEM will work but it is not in the spirit of the license - the license is for system builders who assemble their own machines and then sell it on.

    Yes, you can.

Windows 8 "upgrade" disks can be used for a clean install using the same methods that worked for Windows 7 "upgrade" disks. One method is to install as demo, then upgrade that again. The other is to make a simple registry edit after the initial demo install. I don't think it is allowed to post the details on this forum, but a simple Google search will show you how to do it. To comply with the license agreement, you do have to own a previous version of Windows (XP or newer), but it doesn't have to be installed first.

The "OEM" full install will, of course, also work just fine, but you will be your own support if you have any questions or problems. You will not be allowed to move your license to a new machine should you upgrade, as you can with a retail disk.

Can you please message me on how to do this? I went out and bought a Windows 8 Upgrade disc and it turns out I cant use it because I dont have a previous version of windows 7 installed on bootcamp. So please, if you can be so kind, message me at 'sonny_black_echo@yahoo.com' whenever you get the chance. :)

Google "windows upgrade clean install" and see what you get.

You do have to own a previous version of Windows XP or later to legally use the "upgrade" retail disk per the license agreement. But you don't have to have it installed to clean install the upgrade disks for Windows 7 or 8 (same processes for both).

Both methods (actually three) are detailed here:

    Good luck....
