Hello everyone this is my first post and I am very curious to know if I can stream live HD video and audio to the AppleTV to my 50 inch lcd at a remote location.

Like this.. Live HD Broadcast Stream--> Internet--->appletv (remote location)---) HDTV and audio system..

Any suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you all so much in advance..

The only streams I have seen that work are Apples own streams of the movie previews and the free 30 seconds of the top 10 TV shows in the iTunes store. I do not believe either of these are HD at the moment.

As of right now you can not play anything in AppleTV that will not play in iTunes and the media must be in the correct format, just because iTunes may play it does not mean it will play on AppleTV.

As of now the only internet streams appleTV plays are (1) Apple trailers and (2) You tube. Apple trailers look great. But it is more like DVD quality than HD and you know how youtube is. It is certainly capable of 720p playback.

Thank you for the responses.. thats too bad the appletv sounds a bit limited in a way...

What I am trying to accomplish is hd quality video conferencing.. can anyone give me a push in the right direction? :) Equipment needed etc.. just the basics would be great.. Do I need to set up a VPN? Thanks again!!

What about using two slingboxes taking their feeds from HD camcorders?

I need to add that I don't have an HD camcorder, so I have no idea if you can throw a live HD feed to a TV or anything else. I also have no slingbox, but I think they are HD capable now (please do some homework, as I'm not sure about that).

Just throwing an idea out. Otherwise, there are professional, very good video conferencing systems out there, but I'm not sure about HD, and they tend to require some serious buck$.

It is possible to create a .MOV QuickTime wrapper for a live video feed, although I don't know if the :apple:tv supports those.
