Someone gave me last year's Kindle Fire HD which has a great screen but somewhat useless for me as a work tablet because I use Pages, Notes, ICal etc.

Was thinking of trying to root the Kindle and put stock android on it, because in theory I should be able to sign into my iWork through Chrome. Has anyone done this and how clunky is it to use this way? Thanks for any advice

Can you use iWork on Android? Short answer: No. iWork is purely Apple so iPad or OSX only. Can you edit an iWork doc on an Android? Maybe. Depends on the supported file formats of the office app you download from the Android store. You might have better luck using Word/Excel docs though than pages.

As for the rooting question, you're probably better off asking that in an appropriate forum since this one is for Mac Applications and not Android rooting. I'd suggest

Nope, the iWork apps are from Apple and they only produce iOS apps. There's no way to get them to run.

I've connected successfully to the iWork web apps using Chrome on my Nexus 7 (turn on request desktop site).

You get a warning that the browser isn't fully supported, but it does almost work. It is very, very, very slow though and not something I'd recommend at all

About the only thing I could trigger in iCloud in an android browser is "Find my Device".
