FAQs and Helpful Information for Canadian orders

When and where do pre-orders start?

Friday, September 13th, 2023
5:00am PT
6:00am MT
7:00am CT
8:00am ET
9:00am AT
9:30am NT

Apple.ca or on the Apple Store app on your iOS device.

In-store Reserve and Pickup Link:
This was no longer available as of last year. It appears Apple no longer offers in-store reservation.

Affirm Financing FAQs - Apple
General Info Link:
https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/browse/financing
  • Affirm lets you finance your iPhone through Apple.ca or in-store over 24 months. Unfortunately, no more 0% financing is available.
  • Any trade-in value is applied as instant credit.
  • There is no hard credit check. A soft credit check is required for identity verification only.
  • There are no trade lines opened on your credit bureau for Affirm plans.
  • Payments can be made using pre-authorized debit or credit, and begin Monthly starting 30 days after shipment or pick-up.
  • Loan can be paid off any time without penalty.
  • Not available on the EPP store.

Shipping & Delivery FAQs
In prior years, most iPhone orders ship via UPS directly from Apple Canada’s warehouse in Concord, ON. As such, tracking will not be available until the Thursday before launch day. This is normal. However, some shipments may still originate from China, and tracking will be provided earlier for those shipments.

In-store Pickup
You may select your local Apple store for in-store pickup during pre-order. Inventory normally sells out quickly with this option. However, last year, there was also plenty of in-store pickup stock available for all models starting roughly 30 minutes before the store opened on launch day, in case you missed your desired model on pre-order day.

I bought AppleCare + for the first time on my 15 Pro Max, pay monthly. I am getting the 16 Pro Max.

Do I transfer the coverage over somehow or do I simply cancel AppleCare on my 15 Pro Max under "Subscriptions" and then order AppleCare + when I am buying my new phone?

My current subscription on my 15 Pro Max shows the next payment is September 22.

Literally one of the most insignificant year on year updates in history. At these prices I would jump at an opportunity to buy a 15 or 15 pro at a discount if possible.

Cancel it under Subscriptions. You will need to order AppleCare+ again for the new phone. It's not transferrable between devices.

Thank you sir. Let's hope I can order mine with no concerns. Been pretty good over the years now, not like the iPhone 4 and 5 days.

Suspect that Desert Titanium is going to be "IT" model this year.

So with the In-store Reserve and Pickup Link no longer being available like the 15, can we still reserve to pickup and then switch to a carrier based contract at the store?

In the past you just reserve the device and decided later if you want contract or pay full price.

Anyone knows how the trade in works? I have a 14 Pro that I want to trade in, but I can't be bothered to send the phone I just want to avoid the classic Canada Post f* up. Can I just pre-order then when I pick it up at the local Apple Store offer my 14 as a Trade-in and they credit the CC?

They use a third party. No in store trades. You will be sent a trade in kit via UPS and it includes box, tape to seal box, return UPS label. Easy, fast, usually reliable. If you pay for new item up front you get a credit once trade is received. If you finance you get immediate credit...

Oh? Alright, maybe it's different for iPhones then. I remember bringing in my iPad to trade it against the new M4 ones. But since this is a pre-order it must be different. Thanks for the answer!

You can do in-store:

The only disadvantage is you give up your device there and then and are relying on an iCloud backup. If it is corrupt, you are hooped. There is spotty feedback of people bring in their phones after they buy a new one to get a credit. Some just get a gift card for a future purchase, not a credit on your new phone purchase.

Ah, well I guess it's going to be better to walk in the store tomorrow and just straight up ask the question. I'll get an answer and I will post it here for future reference.

It wasn't available with the 15 either. It's unclear at this point if that will be an option or not.

During COVID, they weren't allowing in-store trade-ins. They do now. Even if you place an order online for in-store pick-up, they can modify the order when you pick it up and complete the trade-in right there. No need to ship it back.

Do you know if you can pick up and then come back later to complete the trade in to ensure your data transfers over?

I’m personally going with the 16 Pro Max 1TB in Natural Titanium. Happy to see the battery life is supposed to be the best of any iPhone. The 15 Pro Max has terrible battery life in my opinion.

No new iPhone for me this year, still paying off the 15 Pro Max. If I did t have the 15 pro I’d upgrade for Apple Intelligence, probably the 6.3” pro because thats the perfect size imo.
