The entire preorder was a debacle for me and a mess. The first confirmation email I received was at 3:09, then the next at 3:12 and lastly 3:17. I had first gotten in late with the Apple store app not “opening” the preorder until late and off the hop my window was 2-3 weeks.
I ordered Silver 256, SG 64 then SG256. I’m in London, ON. I don’t recall my order time but I do remember receiving my confirmation emails very quickly. I paid with Apple Pay, which itself was fine but the app was a mess. All were ordered through the app as my MBP did not load the store even after my last preorder.
All three were listed as November 20-27 until 8:49pm tonight, when one went straight to “shipped - signature not required.” The last two remain at November 20-27.
I spoke with some employees I know well at the Apple store today, I think everyone should be trying the reserve for in store pickup. I was told that all shipments that come throughout any given day (at London store at least) are set aside for reserve and pickup the next morning and not put out for sale that same day. I was also told that a shipment comes every night, so the possibility exists that there will be hopefully good inventory for pickup. Remember, when you are going through the store reserve it’ll show you inventory for your 12 closest Apple store locations - at least for me that is the case. Maybe it goes by distance.
Hope that helps ! I’ll answer whatever else I can.

What were you wearing today when your order got moved up and where did you purchase the clothing?

I'm gonna wake up for this store pick up thing but it better work for unlocked phones and better not be instantly sold out. Nobody else wake up. I'll let you know.
Just FYI, all iPhones reserved for in store pickup are unlocked, despite it being labeled as for carrier upgrades. When you arrive for your pickup they will ask you if it’s for purchase or with your carrier.
