Am I likely to have any problems if I try to preorder a 15 Pro Max from the US for in-person pickup at a Canadian Apple Store? I'm not worried about my credit card, just whether Apple will allow that, or some other unforeseen issue.

I want a SIM card version of the next iPhone...

I could of course wait until they are in regular stock and just go buy one in-person, but who wants to wait!

This guy was able to do it last year, though he had a Canadian friend place the order from Canada.

A couple other things to keep in mind (also mentioned in that thread) is that the Canadian iPhone doesn't have 5G mmWave, and you would probably need to go back to Canada if you ever need any warranty work done.

Do we even know if the iPhone 15 will have the physical SIM card version in Canada? There have been rumors that it'll be ditched in more countries around the world this year.

You can't order from the USA Apple Online Store for pickup (or shipment) outside USA.

Edit: Okay, I understand what you're saying. You live in USA, you want to order a Canadian phone and pick it up in Canada. Give it a try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I suspect it might not work with a USA credit card.

As @iStorm posted, 99% sure will need to get someone in Canada to order the phone.

Tried to simulate this as an experiment once. Could not select a store outside of country ordering from. So need to change store to country want to buy in. And as @FreakinEurekan points out, now need a payment method that works in that country.

Also wonder about warranty and AppleCare as guessing device will not show under one's AppleID for country they reside in, T&Cs are different between countries (and in some cases, states in US).

Even if can get service in US for the device, there is a disclaimer/note under AppleCare that states if trying to get service for device outside of country of purchase, Apple may replace the device with one that is for region replacement done in (eg. have an iPhone 14 with SIM card slot, get replacement in US, will get an eSIM only phone). "One more thing" to think about.

You’ll need to be on the Canadian site, it’s obviously not going to work from the US site. For pickup you can put in the postal code of your nearest Apple Store.

Your US credit card should work.

You’ll probably need to show your passport for ID as your US ID may not be accepted.

Warranty is global. It will show under your Apple ID.

Yeah if you try to replace it in the US you’ll get a US replacement.

And fyi all phones in Canada are government mandated to be unlocked.

You should be able to use Apple Pay as payment. Make sure you choose in-store pickup. I've done this internationally before.

Service can be hit or miss. Some Apple Store reps will look at it and refuse battery service. Another location will happily take it in for battery service. I think it depends on the Apple Store's experience with international customers. This is my experience with servicing HK dual-SIM models.
