Canada ( rogers & fido ), how to get a good plan, but shhh, don't tell anyone.

how to screw a phone company that tries to offer you a minimum plan of 60$ 150 minutes, 7pm evenings, 75 test msgs? and basically required a the 30$ for 6gb data? and missing stuff? 90$ in total?

( my plan, please don't advertise so they don't disallow this ) i'm being nice!

Fido Monthly Plan
25$ - Unlimited Incoming Calls from Across the World, 50 minutes of talk time.
30$ - 6GB of data
20$ - Call Display, Who Called, 10,000 Text Messages, Caller Ring Trax, Evenings 5pm, Call Forward up to 2,500 minutes.

Total = 75$
* did i mention free unlimited incoming calls? just tell someone to call you, YOU WONT PAY A CENT AND IT CAN COME FROM CHINA! oh and if you have another phone near by, FORWARD IT!!! YOU GOT MORE MINUTES THERE THAN ANY OTHER PLAN!!

uhm... ya.... gj retards. thx come again.

their iphone 75$ plan ( rather than the one i made ) is...

300 minutes
evenings 7pm
200 text messages
1GB Data
oooo and free hot spots. ( that's great, most people don't spend time at starbucks )

i think i officially ****ed the system!
 
Its general knowledge now that you can create a plan thats cheaper than the iPhone bundles.

I did the same thing except i opted for a different voiceplan that suited my needs. Rogers is perfectly fine with this practice. The Rep I was dealing with today didn't even mention the iPhone bundles haha

Im a phone call away to cancelling my iPhone plan. They are going back on their word (sales via phone) as far as what I was suppose to get. I dont have the patience to fight it out with their email robots :p
Just waiting on their final reply to see where I stand.

Sorry to go off topic, but does that mean that you normally do have to pay to receive calls?! How about text messages?

Over here in the UK you ONLY pay to make outgoing calls and texts; you don't pay to receive anything. Also, some of the other things you mentioned (Caller Display etc.) are free over here... It seems that (although high compared to other phones) the iPhone plans are much better in the UK compared to the other countries.

In Canada, you pay airtime whether the call is incoming or outgoing. That may apply to texts as well (depends on carrier and plan).

Hate to dissapoint you but my Rogers plan is:

Unlimited Incoming
250 anytime minutes
unlimited evening/weekend calling starting at 6PM
Visual Voicemail
Caller ID
500 outgoing text messages/unlmited incoming
100 long distance minutes to Canada
***Edit 6GB Data plan (forgot to include this in original post)

Total including SAF and 911 Fee and taxes = $71

You should have bargained some more... but then if your plan satifies you than great for you.
 
My plan with Rogers is:

$20/month voice plan 50/1000 minutes
$15 iPhone value pack
$30 6GB data plan

$65/month and after the $8 fees it's around $73/month.

Not too bad I think!

$5 early weekend/week night unlimited (from 6pm)
$5 500 txt
Free Caller ID
Unlimited incoming calls

after taxes and other charges, it comes to $40

Less 10% for VIP discount so $63.

Wow maybe this is why Rogers is so confused. They have way too many different plans :p
But thats no excuse for sucking :)

that's a pretty good plan.........how long have you been with rogers???

i don't need data, i have wifi at home, school.............

also 6GB is too much for me, so ill wait for more option like 2GB for 10$ is good for me

so you're saying that your voice plan is only 13$ and you get everythign else free....hard to believe, but it could be.......my cousin got her phone about 7 years ago, and the lowest voice plan started with $20

My 5 numbers basically removes all the long distance I use to have too so for me it's worth it always had at least $20 Long distance.

6 Gb is way overkill for probably 99% of the people. The majority iPhone users last year in the US used around 300Mb. The first 2 week is used 300Mb, 2 weeks into this month I'm at 70Mb. Just go to the usage page and monitor what your usage is.

According to my contacts at Rogers they have been closely monitoring usage and in the first day there were 2 that used 5Gb of data. they are trying to figure out how they managed to do that. It's almost impossible unless its tethered some how.
