Carrier Canadian carrier (Rogers) promo site for iPhone 12 downplays 5G

This is a little concerning...In total contrast to Apple’s marketing, Rogers’ promo page for iPhone 12 buries the mention of 5G:

-completely absent from the top line summary
-mentioned as “ready for 5g” AFTER first touting LTE speeds

Seems like Rogers is not confident in their 5G Network.

From what I've read, non-US iPhone 12 models will not support 5G mmwave, so even if Rogers is deploying 5G mmwave across Canada (which I don't think it is since the spectrum has not been auctioned off yet), the Canadian model iPhones will not support it.

It's unfortunate but it looks like it makes "sense" since the spectrum is not deployed yet. I just wish the price would reflect the lack of proper 5G radio.

I reached out to a Rogers rep to get some clarification. He wrote (emphasis added):

In March 2020, we launched Canada’s first 5G network, and it’s now Canada’s largest 5G network, with 10 times more coverage than any other carrier in Canada! Plus, 5G access is available on Infinite plans at no extra charge! 5G will be the most transformative network technology offered since wireless services were introduced in 1985. Over time, 5G will start to change the way we live, work, and experience the world around us. As 5G networks evolve, so will network capacity, response times, speed, and reliability.

A lot of "future-looking" language here. I think it's safe to say that Rogers customers should not expect much with their 5G iPhones right now.

its not just the phone, its every flavor of fanta, plenty of taco bells, chipotle... and hopefully everything gets back to normal soon...i will move there someday
