I never really understand the āwait till next yearā mentality. If this years phone has things on it that you know youāll enjoy, and you can afford it, go for it. Cause with this question you can literally ask yourself this every year and never upgrade. There will always be a new one right around the corner.

I wish I could resist this yearās iPhone and not fall for the Dull Green. But I just couldnāt live with an old iPhone for another year. Itās just too embarrassing.

That's a bit different, as I might be able to justify the upgrade using the larger screen. Still, the X isn't very old. Average upgrade cycles are now longer two years, more like 3-4 years. There's nothing wrong with using a two-year-old iPhone.

Donāt get me wrong, iPhone X is one of the most beautiful devices Iāve ever owned/handled. Itās just that I felt a little embarrassed around my friends sporting their latest iPhone XS Maxes.

No one should need the latest iPhone as a status symbol. If your friends do, that's their problem, not yours.

Yeah, but the bad news is your friends were probably smart enough to order the sleek silver and not dull green. So they probably wonāt even notice you have a new phone and theirs will look better. That must suck.

Youād have to be quite eagle eyed to tell the difference between an X and a XS without close inspection. The average person wouldnāt even have retained the knowledge that the X didnāt come in gold.

I agree itās almost impossible to tell the difference between X and XS. But I was talking about X vs. XS Max, where the difference is quite stark.
For me old in like how old???? If I had to lug my old bag phone from 30yrs ago, that would not only be heavy but also embarrassing ....lol but since I'm using my XR I can hold off with no problem. Enjoy those new phones.....

But not having a Max last year didnāt mark you out as somebody who didnāt have the latest iPhone. You could have had the integrity to go with your desire for the smaller model rather than going all flashy and new. Nobody would have known any different š

I wanted to skip earlier this year, but it's pretty clear based on reviews that this is the best iPhone upgrade in some time.
A few reasons why this upgrade is wise:
1) You are buying the most fine tuned, powerful versions of the current models (11 Pro and 11). These phones should have worked out most kinks of the X and Xr. Next yearās redesign could have standard first year issues
2) They are allegedly changing the sizes of the high end model. You may not like those size changes
I plan to keep the 11 Pro for two or three years
