cancel pre order for launch day in-store

i have a pre ordered phones with my ATT next and a full price t-mobile both scheduled to be delivered from nov 17-24 but is it possible to cancel the ATT next when i get in store on launcg day or will that not work ?Can apple store employees cancel my preorder and instead give me a phone on ATT next on same line?

I heard that last year a lot of people did this. I’m hoping it works because I’m doing it. If not I may buy at full price.

IIRC it takes 24-48 for your account to reset to show you are eligible for an upgrade. Really this is something best to ask ATT. Try chat for a quick answer.
