I've placed my order for one iPad on 11/May and today I've received an email from Apple notifying me that my order has been cancelled due to the following reason even though I ordered only one iPad:

"To ensure that all customers are given equal opportunity to acquire this product we have limited the quantity available per customer. Therefore, this order has been cancelled. "

Has anyone else cancelled his/her order by Apple?

    Update:
I've called Apple Store and they've just recited me the reason " my order was cancelled because of ipad quantity limitation". They did not reinstate my order.

I currently do not own any iPad and do not have any iPad order in place..

I wonder whether I should place another order or not....

    Update:
Thank you everyone for kind comments and encouragement. After lengthy exchange with Apple Online Store, my cancelled iPad order was reinstated.
Unfortunately, I was not give a reason why my order was cancelled due to the quantity limitation in the first place...

Do you have a common name? Maybe your name on the credit card matches up with someone else who bought 2 ipads.

At the risk of stating the obvious....there must be more to this story.....

Did you ask Apple how they came to the conclusion that you bought multiple iPads? Not trying to be difficult, but I note that you used the words "ordered" and "currently do not own", but is this the first one that you have bought?

Yes, I did ask why my order was cancelled, and the answer was ..."iPad Quantity Limitation". The operator, who answered my inquiry, confirmed that I do not have any other iPad order(s) in place. This was the only order and was going to be my first iPad..:(

No. There is no record of purchasing any iPad with my card(s).

    Damn, sorry to hear.

Take your cash, get you a prepaid debit. Wait a week to get it in the mail.

Go to the Apple Store, or online, and smack that baby down on the counter. One iPad, please!

    Wham bam, thank you, ma'am!.

Send Steve a pithy email at sjobs@apple.com. Tell him your story. Something like this should not be allowed to happen.

You appear to be dodging the question.

Did you (or anyone using your id, credit card, apple account, etc) ever buy an iPod, for yourself or anyone else?

Can you think of any possible reason why Apple might think that you, or someone operating on your behalf, bought or ordered an iPad?

Well then, your next step is to login to your bank account and check if somebody is fraudulently using your credit card number, or check your credit reports and see if you're a target of identify theft. That's far more likely than Apple accidentally putting your name on their list when this has been your only order ever. Myself, I would have been more insistent about not having bought one before, and asked for details about when/where. You make it sound like they just robotically said "because of rule #37 subsection a" and you said, oh, okay. When you find out why, I'd be interested in hearing.

I do not own or purchased any iPod. I have also never bought iPad for myself or anyone else. I cannot think of any other reasons..that's why I sought help from Apple Store, and they could not tell me why this limitation was applied to me.

My card has been monitored and I usually get a call when suspicious transactions have been made (fortunately, all transactions were mine so far). But so far there is no such transaction. Apple Store is currently trying to find out why my order was cancelled. They promised me to call back as soon as they find out "why". But I would like them to reinstate my order first!! Am I asking too much from them?

By any chance, did you purchase the Apple Case?

Apple seems to be putting these safeguards in place to prevent reselling, but they probably aren't as efficient in their cross-checking as we're led to believe. Maybe they have your name in the system for the Case and somehow that is giving them the red flag.

Yes. Right now you have been flagged as a iPad pirate and national security risk. Until you've been cleared of all charges Apple considers you guilty until proven innocent. If you see guys in black suits talking on iPhones knock on your door, get out the back.

    Good luck. :D

Does the credit card you placed your order with belong to someone else? If so, they may have purchased their limit.

I agree. He comes in here whining with a new thread but the answers are obviously evasive. Apple knows something he's not revealing.
