I’m kind of envy You guys who can use your mobile phone as personal hotspot without worrying much about running out of data.
Same, I would contemplate as well. It is the same as getting a mobile hotspot WHICH is meant to only be used if your router goes out due to server outage(s), but in a more higher price point by using a spare iPhone and burning thru your mobile data. I would only care if I had unlimited data, but when I need backup Internet.

That's pretty good and it's probably a lot cheaper for them to maintain than cables, installs, repairs, trees on lines, etc. They don't have that in my area because we're in area with 1-2 bars max. However, now Verizon FIOS is $49 per month and $10 for Apple music family. Thought that was a good deal for now and I'll keep looking for their 5G home internet.

BTW, does the cell router have the ability to connect and work through a mesh system? I need coverage through out our home---one router won't be enough.
I haven’t used it myself but I expect it would work with a mesh system.

Thanks for keeping this going. Always interesting to hear long-term data. Particularly interested in the 16e, and the Apple designed Modem.

I had to cancel my home broadband as I could no longer afford the monthly fee for it ($70+ per month, Australian dollars) and my mobile phone fee. Am now relying on my phone for tethering/hotspotting for Internet access at home (I am a relatively light user -- don't online game or stream TV). Local library is a 20-minute walk away, so I can go there for free WiFi access, but it is an inconvenience nonetheless. Am concerned about long-term impact on my iPhone's battery life (iPhone 16 Plus -- Manufacture date: April 2025; First use: May 2025; Cycle count: 10 -- I have it at 80% charging limit) but no other choice at the moment.

As long as you don’t tether and charge, your battery should age with a little more grace. On a bright note, you are using the tech as intended full throttle so money well spent.
