OP, I see you are in the Philly area as am I. Many times I have considered going with an MVNO such as Republic Wireless & Ting to save some $$. Both use the Sprint network. Now I'm glad I didn't. I'll stick with VZW as it is very reliable for me in this area. I guess in the world of mobile carriers you get what you pay for.

huh?

Did you transfer your number as well? You didn't think about testing Sprint out first before canceling your old service?

Besides knowing someone who's already on said new service, how would one go about "testing" a new phone service? Not like you can get a loaner and paying for two plans is expensive.

T-Mobile lets you, or you can do what I've done at AT&T in that you sign up for new service, but you don't port your number until you are happy with the service.

he also gave me a $150 credit to use for anything I'd like.
Wow they gave you the $150 port in credit for porting back in, lol! Winback is awesome!

It just depends on where you live. Verizon is consistently good almost everywhere so that is why they are the largest carrier.

On Verizon you can suspend your line w/o billing while you try out another carrier and then port over to the other carrier if you decide it is a good fit for you.

The only issue is i had to re-register for myverizon online and set everything back up as if it was new. I also have to get my Smart Rewards all put back to normal as well as my extra 1gb of data per month for the entirety of my contract.

Seems like my whole account was erased and started fresh again, even though i was off verizon for less than 2 days.

is this normal?

Were you able to get your old numbers back? I don't have experience with Verizon but this is how it would work with AT&T. We had to transfer accounts (unrelated reasons) and the old account was immediately wiped. Wife had to add her discount and all that all over again. The new account wasn't active for about 48 hours. By this I mean to say that the numbers were actvae, data was usable, but I couldn't make an online login for about two days.

I left Verizon for AT&T about a month ago and after some investigation I determined that my corp discount wasn't all it was cracked up to be with AT&T so I posted my number back to Verizon. In the time I was gone VZW started a port your number in from another carrier and get a $150 bill credit and so when I came back they offered me that! Found that to be super generous and cool of them!

yeah it is only supposed to be for new 2 year activations, but glad you got it!!!

With cell phone coverage it's always best to buy a new line and just try the service out for a few days to see how the coverage really works. If all is well, then you switch that number over to your existing line... Saves you potential trouble. Glad you got the sweet credit, though! That rocks!!
