Cancelling a preorder

I'm currently on an iPhone 6 (64GB) and am 99% certain I want to upgrade to the 7+ 128GB. If I preorder tonight does anyone know from previous years how long I'll have to change my mind and cancel the preorder before it goes into shipping?

Usually a couple of days before it goes into preparing for shipping, but less time this year before release, so that could change.

Typically before it gets prepared for shipping. If you've chosen to pick up at store, you can cancel anytime.
