ShapeShifter is nice, good suggestion Jaffa, but at the end of the day I do prefer CandyBar. Also, I do not believe ShapeShifter works on the Intel platform yet, if that makes a difference, which I think it might if 7on is trying to run it on his MacBook.

Is there some reason you're looking for an alternative 7on? Is there something about CandyBar that is lacking in features for your needs? Certainly it can't be the $13, as that's very reasonable for such a great little app!

Indeed... I've used CandyBar for years now and have no complaints with it – it's a great little app. Still, if 7on wants another option then another option he shall have... :p ;)

Mind, good point about the Intel issue though – it's worth pointing out that CandyBar is a Universal app, though. ;)

ya couldn't help myself...

I hate shape shifter, it can really bork a computer's OS...it gave me kernal panics right away, and I never touched it since...

So, no I don't think there is a good alternative for Candybar, at least not for the whole "themed" thing..

I don't even really use CB anymore, I just change my icons manually.

David Lanham icons in the house!..:)

I usually do that as well, however I find that CandyBar makes it so much easier, especially when it comes to those slightly more tricky icons to change like the Finder and Recycle Bin. ;)

Watch out for some of those problems. Ever since installing CandyBar/Shapeshifter, my computer is prone to lots of suspect crashes, mostly involving Dock and/or Finder.
