Suspect I'm being a dumbass here, but after setting up a new MBP 2012, I can't seem to change from the default Terminal colours. I need a black Terminal :)

Terminal > Prefs > Settings just does nothing.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Go to Preference, Start up and check the "On start up, open: New Window with settings" and under there choose what theme you like.

Quit terminal (don't just X out) and restart it.

EDIT: Before restarting, click the "Default" button after selecting the theme you want. This makes that theme the default, then restarting will use the new setting.
