Cannot Checkout with retina MBP + $100 GC in EDU store???

I've been trying a good 20minutes now in education store, and keep getting the same error:

It is not only charging extra $100 for the GC, but also adding TAX on the GC...

AFAIK, GC are tax free stuff, in most states.

I just got done chatting with a service person over the exact same issue and they said they are aware of the problem and it should be fixed momentarily.
