Cannot complete App Store request..

    I have had this problem for a few months now and tried to search for a resolution but nothing seems to work.
    I have a 27 inch imac mid 2011 and using osx 10.8.5
    I used to be able to simply press the software update button and would see updates and install them from the App Store.
    Now when I do this I constantly get the message..
    "We could not complete your App Store request..the App Store is temporarily u avaloble .please try again later"
    Well I do try again later and same issue...like I said this has been this way for a while now and my internet seems to be fine with other tasks ..
    Anyone ?...thanks.

    Thanks…seems that I had spotlight disabled somehow..seems to have fixed things.
