My dad handed down to me his old iPhone 3, runs on 3.1.2, but I cannot download any apps due to the apple shunning of anything less than a 4. I know nothing of iPhone technology, nothing about updating, jailbreaking, unlocking, etc, the stuff I have looked up confuses me, as this is my first iPhone I have EVER used. So can anyone give me a foolproof and idiotproof step-by-step guide on what I need to do to get it updated so I can download apps on it? Including steps you might find silly and omit-able, like how to hook up an iPhone to a computer and to its iTunes and how to run the unlocking or jailbreaking or whatever program I need to do once the iPhone is hooked up. As I literally know NOTHING. So is anyone patient enough to write out the ENTIRE process for me of what I need to do?
