iPod touch Cannot download 2.1 firmware

I have gone to the store and clicked on download 2.1 firmware, a small 0.4kB file downloads, and nothing after.

If I click restore I get an error, see attached.

Have you updated your iTunes software yet? I'd try that first, then try to get the iPod update. I tried several times last night unsuccessfully (dload kept timing out), but tried again this morning and it fired right off first try.

I would say that Apples servers are inundated with requests. Hence why Iphone users get to wait until Friday...Too many of the things!

All up to date. Perhaps Apple's servers are being hammered.

Does anyone have a direct link to the firmware?

switch usb ports..I had the same problem

"Unable to check for purchases" ????

Been trying to download 2.1 for my 1G Touch for the past 24 hours.

Keep getting the message:

"Unable to check for purchases."

Have just restored. Still no luck.

Any advice?
