My dad is unable to download WatchOS 7. He has an iPhone 8 and Watch Series 3. He downloaded iOS 14 first with no problems. Both iPhone and Watch is on the same network. I live with him and I was able to download the update on my Series 5 using my iPhone 10. His iPhone just checks for update and then says it's unable to. Both the Watch and iPhone is charged over 50% and neither are on airplane mode. He has restarted his iPhone, but that didn't work.

What is he doing wrong please as I am stumped?

Thank you.

I'm in the same boat. Phone updated to IOS 14 and Watch app is stuck on Checking for Update. I've restarted the phone as well as killed and relaunched the Watch app.

I had to unpair and repair my watch to get the download to work, but it's updating as I type.

I had that problem and noticed that IOS14 generates a random mac address (wifi tracking evasion). I turned that off and it worked but then again it could have been the server load was lower during the night.

Ok thank you. I'll get him to try that. Plus his activity hasn't been recorded for the past week or so if that's related.

i tried to update 3 times. Each time my iPhone would say it couldn't verify because it could not connect to the internet. I then unpaired and repaired and it took the 4th time.
