Well, after the upgrade i cannot empty the trash can.

I noticed that i have a lot of stuff there that accumulated over the last 2 weeks or so - mostly old photoshop files etc....

if i try to empty it hangs - if i click on cancel - it hangs cancelling

    what is worse

    terminal -> rm -rf .Trash/*
    doesnot do anything

    and the worst part
    sudo bash
rm -rf .Trash/* also hangs ...... so it's not a permission problem.....

going to run a disk utility to check it - but i have a feeling this is a lion issue.........

    Trash Can

This is happening to me too... But it had also happened to me on 10.6.8 so idk what the problem is and I can't remember what I did to solve it the last time...

Need help asap! I was backing up files from my other PC and had to format the external HDD, for this I copied most of the files to my MBP after copying them back (all 490GB) I kind of need to delete these files from the MBP xD)

Currently trying to delete small groups of files...

It seems like because there are way too many files when it finds even if its one locked file it chokes and can't delete anything... go through everything and find the locked files unlock them and hit delete... that should work...

Locked files have a little lock on the left bottom corner.
To unlock a file on Lion click get info and uncheck the option that says lock...
Send everything to the trash and secure empty it, should be fine...

Ok I finished deleting all the files I wanted...

I was looking for some app to help me.. so I tried this one:

    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/25821/raw-trash

This one deleted all the unlocked files leaving only the locked ones to unlock and delete... this made my work way easier because I had 35.000+ files to delete all in a huge mess... and left only about 30 locked files

    30 files I would've had to find among 35.000!

    This other app http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10481/force-empty-trash
has very good ratings, I didn't try it though...

    Good Luck!
