I Still actually not understand this, for example where is "on" and options in Maverick. On like the power button? And then there's no option selection.

If possible could someone show me with picture and Step 1-5 how you did this?
Thanks

When you push the Power Button to start your Mac, hold down the Option key (or Alt key on non Apple Keyboards) on your keyboard. This will bring up a dialog box that allows you to choose any bootable volumes on your Mac. Choose the Recovery volume to boot into your Recovery partition. This will allow you to use the Disk Utility to erase or partition other volumes or restore your Operating System.

I tried to do this, on>option>recovery mode>erase the disc

But still the same message is coming "could not unmount disk"
I have maverick, but I guess that it would be same steps anyway?

I have also changed the settings in spotlight where I put the HDD in privacy.
I have checked the HDD and its not broken.
Any other tip?

On, yes the power button.
Then hold Command-Opttion-R instantly (after the power button), it will start up in recovery mode, you'll find it there.

This is what I'm doing
Power>Option button> Reccovery mode (pic1) > Disc Utillity (pic2) > Taking the HDD I want to erase (pic3) > Pressing erase, changing name on it and then erase, but still this message is coming (pic 4)

The problem is in pic 4 you have the drive itself selected on the left side, and you cannot erase that entire drive because you are currently booted to the hidden recovery partition on that very drive.

Are you just trying to reinstall Mavericks? Just select Macintosh HD below the drive brand name there and then you will be able to erase.
