I have an Airport Extreme connected via ethernet to a modem which supplies the internet to the house. I have two airport express stations wirelessly extending that one extreme. The other day one of my airport express base stations came up with the error "cannot extend wireless network. I power cycled the router, set it back up and nothing works. All the settings match the airport extreme. It was working until about 4 days ago. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue?

Try downgrading to 7.6.1. It is possible that an Express could have died.

Ill try downgrading. It can create a wireless network and can join one, it just won't extend. Its the weirdest thing

    EDIT: downgrading did not work.

Is this AirPort under warranty? Do you have AppleCare on any of your devices?

The airport express isn't under warranty anymore. Its a few years old. Both my MacBook and iPhone are under warranty though.

The MacBook's AppleCare would cover any AirPort purchased up to two years before the purchase of the MacBook.

Just to be clear, it does not get covered under the one-year limited warranty but rather AppleCare.

No problem! I just didn't want you to go to the Apple Store and try to get a replacement under the one-year limited warranty and go "Altemose lied to me"...
I am glad AppleCare covers the AirPorts as I have had to use it before.
