Hi,

I received my macbook this afternoon (horay!) and am currently trying to network my old dell with it so I can transfer my files. However, I cannot find the 'directory access' which is supposed to be in my utilities file- I have 'directory utility' but this has nowhere for me to enter the name of my windows workgroup (as per networking guide says I should) and thus cannot enter it into finder>go>connect to server!! Aggg

Any help, even if just to point out my stupidity would be greatly appreciated, as my google searches have been fruitless.

Thanks!
Harriet

If you use ethernet cable to estabilish the connection just go to network preferences, and under the ethernet mode go the advanced menu and u will find where you can add the group name you want to connect to. it worked me well when I connect my macbook to my sis's laptop running windows

good luck!
