For the last few weeks, I have been trying to get the Apache server running on my mac with PHP enabled. I am able to enable Apache, but when I try to enable PHP as well, Apache then stops working!

I'm not really sure what to do, as all the documentation I can find doesn't actually tell you what to do if it doesn't all go according to plan.

I feel that my httpd.conf file is wrong, as the line numbers don't match those shown in online instructions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cause I'm feeling like throwing my mac against the wall atm... Don't make me get windows for web development!

The easiest route is to use MAMP.

If you're wanting to get it to work with the built-in PHP and Apache you'll need to describe what you've tried. From memory it's mostly about un-commenting a line in the httpd.conf file. This write-up looks pretty good.
