I cannot get my ipad to reset to factory settings. After selecting such in the general settings the spinning wheel appears in the middle of the screen. I left it over night spinning to no avail. I have not updated my MacBook to current os so I'm stuck trying to get this thing reset by itself. Not through iTunes. Thanks guys in advance!

Yes. Sorry forgot about that

since it's jailbroke, you need to factory restore it from iTunes. you cannot initiate the restore from the device.

i found this out the hard way when i went to return an iPad 3. got the spin wheel thing and it sat for 10 mins. the guy said "i'm going to ask you a question and you don't have to worry when answering it truthfully, i just need to know which method to restore it. is this iPad jailbroken?"

i said , "if i say yes, can i still return it?"

he said, "sure, no problem. we just have to use one of the laptops here on the table to initiate the restore instead of doing it from the device. no need to worry, i jailbreak all of my devices so i can't hold it against you for something i do myself"

LOL

Yup, just plug it into iTunes when your MacBook is done updating, go into iTunes and hit restore. If you get an error (it's possible) either do a dfu restore or a recovery mode restore. Pretty simple

If you restore a jailbroken device and have all your apps backed up, you are fine right? Potential first time iPad buyer here.
