Trying to set up text forwarding for my iPhone to two other macs and for the love of all things holy can't get text forwarding code to show up on my macs. Had it working yesterday on both macs - but then I decided to monkey around with the settings - wrong move there.

So anyway I have tried every permutation of restarting all devices -- logging out of/turned off iMessage on devices and logged back in/turned on again -- logging out of iCloud and back in -- all are using same Apple ID -- like I said this was working fine before I tried to monkey around with it. Is there some deep way I can reset all the options here? My iphone "sees" both macs - I just can't get a code to show up. Email is checked -- everything is on same wifi.

I had a similar issue, but it was devices only (not Macs). My iPhone 6s+ is my primary phone and I wanted to forward messaging to my iPhone 5. But the 5 retained the phone number from my 6s+ because the 6s+ was an upgrade on the same line.

Pulling the SIM card out of the 5 forced the code notification to appear.

I know that this is NOT your issue, but I am guessing that something is holding the unique ID of your Macs (before this mess).

I have no real solution to suggest, just offering anything I can.
