Not sure when this happened, but I just noticed that all my file extensions are being displayed, and I can't figure out how to hide them again. The "show all file extensions" option is NOT checked in Finder > Preferences > Advanced, but extensions are being shown in all folders anyway. Anyone have another idea where I should look to hide them?

    Thanks!

Define "all". Things like mp4, avi, dmg files etc will always appear unless you delete it out.

All = everything. Txt, pdf, rtf, wav, xls, mp3, etc. etc. If a file has an extension, it's being displayed, no matter what folder it's in.

If you open your Applications folder, do you see "Address Book" or do you see "Address Book.app"?
