Cannot import DVD into iMovie

I need some help. I am trying to import a DVD that contains a compilation of short stories that I have shot. I have been unable to get iMovie to recognize the DVD. The DVD plays just fine using IDVD, but when I try to import it into iMovie all I get are error messages stating that "IMOVIE does not recognize the file extension. The file extensions are .VOB. Does anyone know how I can get iMOVIE to import the files on my DVD.

Any help would be appreciated.

umm not sure about file formats, but download HandBrake and rip the dvd into a mp4 file and then try importing to iMovie.

Download a program called Handbrake (search the google for it) and rip the DVD using that. It rips into pretty much every format.
