Cannot import into LR4 on my new RMBP

My D800 images which would import on my old pc laptop will not import in LR4 on my new RMBP. Any ideas? I thought LR4 was fully compatable with d800.

Forgive me I am new to mac just this week. I am not sure how to do that, but when I go to lightroom it does show it as d800 and shows the images with the boxes by each images selected but when I import it says they could not be imported because the files could not be read. They are nef files. When I do the same thing on my pc, they let me import them. 1000 images on my pc laptop at about 3 pictures a minute does not sound fun. Plus I want to edit my first session on my new mac.
