Hi guys, I just downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 5 on my brand new iMac. Problem is, I can't import any photos ! It does display in preview mode but once I try to import, I get a message saying the file cannot be read.

I'm trying to move these photos from a CF card to an external drive. Can anyone offer some advice ? Kind of frustrating since I'm new to Apple computers and this issue never happend on my Windows system... (was using LR 4)

Thanks

Move the files with Finder. to the desired folder on the external drive. That tells you if the card, reader and external drive are all OK. Then you can add the folder and photos to the LR library.

Not quite sure how to work with the Finder yet....I'll keep reading my book ! :p

Well, I made sure all permissions are set to full read/write, reinstalled LR5 and still unable to import photos. I'm looking at 2 options here. Either installing Windows via Bootcamp, or trying my old copy of LR4.

Any suggestions ? Thanks.

MCAsan told you how to do it... Copy the files to the proper location in your LR5 folder(s) using Finder and then sync LR. If finder will not copy or move the files then you have a problem with the card or the reader.
