I am having a very annoying issue with my brand new iPhone 7 Plus that I purchased today. When setting up the new phone to import all my stuff from iCloud I am getting 'Verification Failed -- An unknown error occured' whenever I hit the 'Next' button to log in with my credentials. I doubled checked my username and password and there is no issue with those. Also, tried setting up as a new phone and entering the credentials inside the Settings app gives the same error message. I have no problem whatsoever logging into iCloud on web and all my other iCloud services are up on my Mac. I even disabled 2 Factor Authentication and tried logging in on the 7 Plus but with no luck (so I reenabled it back again). I am really not sure what else I can try and it's driving me crazy... I made an iCloud backup on my old 6S but will do an iTunes one as well just in case things go really wrong. Tomorrow I will sell the 6S and need to make sure I don't mess anything up.

In the meantime, I would appreciate any advice/suggestions. Thank-you!

Update: restored my 6S to factory settings and I am able to log in with iCloud credentials on the welcome screen...

I am completely puzzled as to why the 7 Plus cannot authenticate me :( I am really really upset about this. Given that it is 2 am here in London I cannot get phone support either... Will need to try in the morning at work.

I managed to find a fix... Just erased the iPhone from Settings and then it let me authenticate with iCloud on the welcome screen... Never had so much trouble with a new device :(

@Gathom: I noticed the short outage from yesterday, but according to Apple System Status everything appeared OK after 11pm, which is when I tried setting up the device.
