cannot paste on ext hard disk

I can not write on external Hard disk, though my mac can read it and copy from it . Any solution? My os is 10.5.4
 
Sounds like it is formatted as NTFS. IF you only use the HD with a mac, use Disk Utility to format it as HFS+.
