Please somebody tell me this is a bad joke. I got my mac mini 2018. Booted it up, initial wizard starded as expected. Now the problem here is that I cannot finish it without a wired keyboard with a correct connector. I have mouse connected but it is not enough! What I have is:
Magic keyboard and magic mouse 1st gen
OEM bluetooth keyborad
Old wired keyboard with PS/2 connector
Wireless mouse with radio USB stick

Only thing I can connect is the wireless mouse with usb stick. Nothing else is possible to connect. In a setup wizzard I get to the point where it wants me to add name and password for my account. I cannot! And its over.
Please dont tell me I am not able to setup my mac mini eventough I have 5 pheripethials which 2 of them are form the Apple itself! This must be a really BAD JOKE! Don't tell me I need to buy yet another keyboard just to enter my user name in setup dialog!!!! Why on earth there is no virtual keyboard in setup wizard?

I don't use wireless keyboards.

Someone here must know how to make an Apple wireless keyboard connect with the 2018 Mini...?

Having said that, if you just can't get it going that way, you're going to need:
1. A USB keyboard
or
2. An adapter to convert the PS2 keyboard to a USB connection.

I've always liked (and still use) Mcally keyboards:

A friend swears by these (URL below):

Here's a monoprice PS2 to USB adapter:

Thanks. Yes I know that with USB keyboard or adapter I can get this going. But isn't this totally ridiculous? I have apple keyboard and mouse on my table and the are useless ...to run mac?
And when i finally manage to connected other mouse to mac and works, the init setup just wont let me continue without keyboard.... I really felt like its a bad joke.

Did you disconnect/delete your old magic keyboard from the old Mac. If the keyboard is still setup for the old Mac, it will not connect to the new Mac.

Yes I did click on forget this device. I have also turned blutooth off to be sure it wont try to conect.

Next question.

Did you remove and/or replace the batteries in the keyboard? Some people have had to do that. Take the batteries out and leave them out for a few minutes. If that doesn't help, There might be other issues. I am using the old Magic Keyboard from my 2010 Mac mini with my 2018 Mac mini without any issues.

Yes I have tried to remove batteries.
Notice that the problem is not that the keyboard is not working with mac mini. It probably would. It is that the init setup wizard does not give any options to check bluetooth devices etc. It will just run up with a window where I should choose my country and thats it. My magic keyboard is sitting next to mac mini in pairing mode and the mac simply ignores it.

Sometimes, one has to do.... what one has to do.
Sounds like you're going to have to use a USB keyboard (or get an adapter for your PC2 keyboard).

Either that, or put the Mini into the closet and forget about it... :)

I second Fishtrman. You should probaby get a USB keyboard to set things up. I use an Apple BT Magic Mouse and Keyboard with Logic but I also have an Apple USB mouse and keyboard because BT can be an unreliable connection, especially with my 2009 5,1 Mac Pro. Any cheap USB KB should work.
