cannot unlock my 2g with 2.2

In quickpwn, it gets to the point where it says "wait for your iphone to connect in recovery Mode" and it never does anything. How can I unlock it?
 
Well, really you should be using Redsn0w...

But when it says connect in recovery mode, did you try putting it into recovery mode?
