Today I installed a few app updates, all downloaded except for one; Tidal.
I pressed update again, it appeared to be doing it but then the “cloud icon” replaced the update button when it was finished downloading. The version number within the app is still the old one so I know it isn’t installing.

I rebooted the phone and it still does it. I am sure deleting the app and reinstalling it will probably fix it, however I’m refusing to do that, as I have around ~80GB worth of music downloaded within the app.

Aside from deleting the app, how the hell do I fix this? Has anyone ever experienced this before? Maybe if I just wait for Tidal to push an update newer than this one?

Happened to me with the Amazon Alexa app today as well. It seems to have fixed itself after a few hours.

It didn’t fix itself in this case. They released an update to address the issue. It was affecting a lot of people

Whether this applies to the tidal app though I don’t know.

Sorry I'm kicking this topic, but i have (almost) the same problem. I currently have 9 app updates waiting, when I click on the 'update' button, it turns into the spinning circle for a brief moment before transforming back into the 'update' button.
I have restarted my iPhone 8 Plus, i have signed out and sign in again with my AppleID, I have done that memory reset thing by holding the on-off button and then the homebutton for a few seconds... nothing has helped. This problem started this morning, should i just wait? Could it be a server issue? Or is there something else I can do (aside from the very last measure of resetting my entire iPhone).

Suddenly after three days the problem has vanished as quickly as it had arrived. I downloaded a new app and suddenly i can update my apps again! Must have been a server issue because it happened on my iPhone and my iPad at the same time.

Had the same exact problem yesterday. Couldn’t update a single app across all four of my devices. After 12 hours of on and off trying to update apps, I downloaded a new app on one device. All of sudden all apps would update on all devices. So weird.

This is by far the weirdest bug I have ever experienced, especially because it had nothing to do with an OS update. It suddenly happened on iOS 13.3.1, persisted after the update to iOS 13.4 and suddenly disappeared again after downloading a new app.

Ah well! Never a dull moment in the Apple Universe ?
