Cannot Update AW5 with iPhone 7 Plus on iOS 15.7.2

Hi all
I am trying to update my Dad’s AW5 paired to his iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone is on iOS 15.7.2 and when I go to the watch app to update the watchOS it says update iPhone OS first. He is on iOS 15.7.2, the latest version possible on an iPhone 7 Plus.

How can I update the AW watchOS? I would like to upgrade to specifically load the Medications app

Unfortunately the latest version of WatchOS requires iOS 16, which the iPhone 7 Plus doesn't support.

Thanks for the info. Is there anyway I can get the medications functionality?
