I have an early 2013 MacBook Pro, updated the ssd and it automatically installed OSX 10.8.5. Trying to get it to Catalina but everytime I click update, nothing happens. Try to sign in to apple store, nothing happens. And safari is so old that it won't open any of apples webpages. I downloaded a Catalina patcher from my other Mac and when I select it, nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

What you could do is completely reset the App Store, and then try logging back in. To get around Safari being old, try a newer web browser like SeaLion from wicknix. From there, you should be able to access the Apple page where you can find the link to Catalina.

Is this one of the MBPs that need to have an Apple OEM SSD in it to perform the firmware upgrade to get past Mojave?
