Hi everyone,
I've just bought & received the new MacBook Air. I am a first-time MacBook owner.
I'm not inexperienced in tech but despite this, I am pretty stumped so far with an issue.
I believe there must be a straightforward solution (that doesn't involve deleting cache files and re-installing the OS). But I would appreciate insight from more seasoned Mac owners.
After setting up my machine and linking everything with my existing iCloud account, I ran into an issue.
I had 4 app updates in my App Store (IIRC iMovie, GarageBand, Pages & Numbers), but every attempted update failed with a message indicating that the apps weren't associated with my account ID.
After some digging, I discovered that I had to "accept/adopt" these apps first. When trying to adopt these apps I received a different error, indicating that the action couldn't be completed and to try again later.
The funny thing is, I can actually run these apps. So they are definitely installed.
I played around with signing in and out, restarting the machine, adding payment information etc...
I installed the latest system updates. I researched and came across a thread describing the same situation with the Mojave beta: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/software-update-in-mojave.2127075/.
And here is a similar issue on another thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6627083
I uninstalled & reinstalled GarageBand & Pages last night and the available updates disappear for these apps (indicating the latest version is now installed).
But these apps now both appear under my "apps for adoption" section and also under my "purchased" apps.
Can anyone explain what on earth is going on here? And is there is a solution?
Is this something that often happens on new MacBooks?
