Canon Hf100 and imovie

I just received a HF100 as a gift from my dad and can not get it to work with imovie!!! I loaded the Digital video solution disk and it doesn't work. I'm wondering if my version is not compatible I have Mac OS X 10.5.5, can anyone help me??

do you have imovie 08? my sister has that camera and it works fine with imovie 08

I don't think so I have imovie that came with leopard. Do I have to buy that too? I'm just worried that I'll buy it and it won't work....

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014 says you need an Intel processor for the format that your camera records in, and only iMovie '08 comes with the correct converter for that file format. iLife '08 retail is $79.
