As states in episode 1 i just got a brand new canon HV-10
With project in iMovie that takes about 40G on the hard drive, the external hard drive is the natural move.
I got a LaCie 250G USB2 and imported directly onto it.
with an 1/2 speed import i went to bed... and found that iMovie had crashed and project file were unusable.
The second time around gave me the same result.
Importing onto the movie or document directory (internal drive) gave me no problem.
I had made sure that the system was not going to sleep or even pop up the screen saver for the next 3hours.

Can the import of HD footage be done directly onto external drive or is it mandatory to get it first onto the internal one and then move the project?
Does the Hard drive need to be firewire?
