canon s3 is lens options

If I buy a 58mm converter that allows me to attach other lenses, am I limited to the ones that Canon sells for this camera? Or could I attach any lens in existence that will fit the 58mm converter? Thanks
 
You mean "lenses" as the wide angle converter or telephoto converter right? Not say an EF lens.
