As my title says, I’ve tried it several times. On my iPhone 7 Plus on iOS 11.1 it works. I can’t get it to work on the X. It is running 11.1.
Also kinda annoying, can’t swipe an app away to close it. Got hold down on it and then tap a little red button.

Once you hold an app (and the red button appears) you can swipe them up/away

Aw, awesome. One extra step but at least that works.
What about the 3D? Weird it’s been removed for the X.

Instead of 3D touch for multitasking, swipe up about halfway then quickly to the right. That will bring up all the cards. You can do it all in one quick motion. (Think of like an arc or "half rainbow" to the right side)

 Why would you even be trying this? iPhone X has its own way of switching Apps and bring up the App Switcher, both of which are far better than the way other devices are limited to.

Not sure why you even expect anything different.

Just use the lower swipe over for the same thing as side screen swiping. You can slide your finger over in a circle pattern too if you want. Doesn’t have to stay straight across the home tab bar

Well then would you care to explain what that “own way” is? :)
I thought they brought back 3D Touch multitasking explicitly for the X to help with the lack of the home button.

It pisses me off that there are people getting this device today that don't even know how to use it.

1. You can swipe horizontally across the Home Bar to switch apps quickly.

2. You swipe up from the Home Bar and hold, and you're in the App Switcher.

Sweet, thanks for explaining!
Kinda hard to know how to use it when, well, I’ve never used it before ;)
I guess I’ll chalk this up to my first run in with a crazed apple fan :D

IMO 3D touch on the edge was a better multitasking gesture than the new method. You could do that from pretty much anywhere along the screen, whereas the new method you have to reach to the bottom. Apple has not done nearly enough to maximize 3D Touch as a useful technology.

It's only my first day with the X so maybe I'll change my mind, but so far I'm finding that gesture-based stuff is less intuitive, less quick, and less satisfying than the home button and 3D Touch stuff was. Then again, I didn't like the new non-mechanical home button at first either, and that only lasted a day.
