Hi all

I have a MacBook Air 2020 intel. Running os Monterey.

I have purchased a usb camera for Astro photography. It is compatible with mac using oacapture and others. However when I try connect I get access denied?

Could this be due to the fact that these apps are not from trusted developers? When opening the app I got the warning and “move to trash” It wouldn’t let me until I right clicked open and then “open anyway.”

As a test I downloaded and installed manycams. USB Camera appears and works right away.

So I’m assuming this may be some sort of permission issue? In any event it isn’t requesting to access the USB camera. It just gives access denied. Any advice ?

Did you grant the app camera access in the Security and Privacy System Preference?

No because it isn’t the built in camera it needs to access. It’s a usb camera. And it doesn’t appear in the setting.

I did a search for "macOS Monterey UVC Camera" and found this link. It appears that the app may need updating for Monterey compatibility.
