Hi,
Due to being somewhat technically challenged, I have made a few Boo-Boos with the file permissions(?)and can't access any of the folders on a second hard drive on my PowerMac G5.
It all began when I tried to restrict access to the volume because I intended it to be a back-up volume. My girlfriend (a total beginner) uses this Mac and I didn't want her inadvertently plowing through there trashing files. She is even more technically challenged than I.
Initially I stuffed up because I misinterpreted the dialogues and asked the Mac to do the opposite of what I actually required! I realised the disaster when I couln't see the files in the finder anymore.
In a spirit of fixology I logged out and logged in as my girlfriend and to my amazement, there were the files! Don't ask me cause I don't remember what I did, but I proceeded to lose them again so now they are invisible to that account also.
I created another user account in vain hope but alas the volume is not there.
I have included a few screen clippings to illustrate what I am too lazy to explain, picture says a thousand words, etc.
This is rather urgent as the PowerMac is currently being sold.
1. Omni Disksweeper can see the drive- Untitled.
2. Finder can't see the drive at all.
3. Disk utility sees it and gives this info.
4. Disk Utility first aid.
OK, soon I'll work out how to get the URLs for the images on .Mac and embed them in the post! 😎
