Can't activate Photoshop

Hi, I'm trying to activate Photoshop CS3 but I can't do it through internet or the the phone they both say there unsuccessful and I don't know why.

Are you trying to activate a downloaded stand alone trial version with your retail box serial number?

I had downloaded a couple of the CS3 applications and used them on trial basis before I bought the CS3 Web Premium. And when I installed the rest and tried to activate PS and DW they simply refused until I uninstalled the trial versions (using the uninstallers) and then reinstalled them from the retail box disk.

Nope I'm using the retail version.

Return it and get a new one...

I just wondering is there any equivalent programs that are like PS thats not gimp which are much cheaper.

Soon-to-be-released Pixelmator looks promising.

Then there's always Seashore.

Pixelmator seems really interesting but Seashore seems a bit simple.
